Silverwater Women's Correctional Centre
Silverwater Women's Correctional Centre is a maximum security institution for women and the major reception centre for female offenders in NSW. Silverwater Women's Correctional Centre is one of three correctional facilities make up the Silverwater Correctional Complex located 21km west of Sydney’s central business district.

Visitor Information
Bookings:
All visits must be booked. Telephone (02) 9289 5657. Bookings for the women's area are only taken after 1.00 pm
Visit times:
Saturdays and Sundays 8.15am - 11.45am and 12.45pm - 3.15pm.
Protection visits plus extreme high risk visits are on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Fridays 8.15am - 10.00am.
Child visits are on Tuesdays 8.15am - 11.45am. (Child visitors must be at the Centre no later than 09.45am.)
The 'Shine for Kids' organisation is based at Silverwater. They can assist in cases where there are difficulties in transporting children to the centre. Telephone: (02) 9648 5866.
Conditions:
- All visitors need to be registered.
- Visitors need to supply proof of identification. This will include presentation of photo ID. Further details are available from the booking officer.
- A maximum of four adults will normally be allowed for each visit, excluding children under the age of 16 years.
- A waiting room, with baby changing facilities, is available.
- Money for inmates can be handed to a cashier who is located inside the Silverwater complex, at the main entrance to the complex.
- There is no smoking in the Visits Section.
- There are vending machines which supply cold drinks and confectionery.
- Visitors may bring a maximum of $10 in coins into the centre.
Legal Visits
Legal practitioners may visit seven days. Notification of intention to visit should be made by telephoning the centre on (02) 9289 5399.

Special Programs
The Centre conducts programs such as AIDS awareness, harm minimisation, conflict resolution, drug issues and anger management. A Regional Aboriginal Officer liaises with Aboriginal health and legal services.
The centre provides:
- Custodial case officers
- Welfare officers
- Psychologists
- Drug and alcohol workers
- Probation and parole officers
- Screening and induction officers
Case Management
Justice Health provides medical staff for the women with access to community based health care.
Legal Aid provide a solicitor once a month to advise on family law matters and civil law matters.
