Library Online Databases

Many of the Databases listed below require passwords to access them. You will obtain these when you register with DOCLIS. For more information, contact your Librarian. The library will support the resources below by providing document delivery where you are unable to obtain the item you require. This may be requested using the Document Request Forms.

Australia

  • AustROM** is a collection of indexes to journal articles, newspapers, reports, books and conference papers on Australian subjects.
  • Australian Research Online searches simultaneously across the contents of Australian university and government research repositories in addition to several other collections of Australian research. It includes theses; preprints; postprints; journal articles; book chapters; music recordings and pictures.

Criminology

  • Australian Domestic and Family Violence Clearinghouse includes two searchable databases on domestic and family violence.
  • Child Abuse and Neglect Database is produced by the National Clearinghouse on Child Abuse and Neglect Information. Free registration required.
  • National Criminal Justice Reference Service Abstracts provides users with information thoroughly covering the fields of law enforcement and criminal justice. The database contains summaries of more than 190,000 publications including books, government reports, research reports, and unpublished research. It also includes content from 189 journals, including 12 with core coverage. Content dates range from 1970 to the present.
  • National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS) Abstracts Database contains summaries of criminal justice publications. Coverage: Early 1970's to the present.
  • Organized Crime and Corruption Bibliographic Database is developed by the Nathanson Centre for the Study of Organized Crime and Corruption, Canada.
  • Restorative Justice Database is created and maintained by the Centre of Criminology Library. This database includes citations to academic and practitioner literature from 1970 to the present. It is updated and maintained on a regular basis and presently includes more than 1,400 records.
  • ProQuest** is a resource of electronic collections containing articles originally published in magazines, newspapers, and journals. You can search these collections for articles on subject that will help with your research in the areas of criminology and justice.
  • Violence & Abuse Abstracts includes bibliographic records covering essential areas related to violence and abuse, including family violence, sexual assault, emotional abuse, and other areas of key relevance to the discipline. The index contains 35,000 records, which are carefully selected from the most important sources within the discipline.

Education

  • ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center) is a national information system designed to provide ready access to an extensive body of education-related literature
  • Professional Development Collection** provides a highly specialized collection of electronic information especially for professional educators, professional librarians and education researchers.
  • Teacher Reference Center provides indexing and abstracts for more than 270 of the most popular teacher and administrator journals and magazines to assist professional educators.
  • Vocational Studies Complete contains more than 1,700 full-text journals as well as more than 200 full-text books. This database is designed specifically for the research needs of two-year colleges, and provides comprehensive coverage of the most relevant associates program level content. Vocational Studies Complete offers information from many sources that are unique to this database.

Law

  • Legal Collection** contains full text for nearly 250 of the world's most respected, scholarly law journals. This database is an authoritative source for information on current issues, studies, thoughts and trends of the legal world.

Management

  • Business Book Summaries extract the key concepts of the best business books, enabling executives, managers and individual contributors to quickly and easily keep abreast of the latest in business thought. Following a rigorous selection process, expertly-written summaries are created for the top business books published each year. The BBS library offers hundreds of summaries with new ones added weekly.   • Business Source Premier ** provides full text for over 2,300 journals as far back to 1965, and searchable cited references back as far as 1998. It provides access to full text coverage in all disciplines of business, including marketing, management, MIS, POM, accounting, finance and economics. Additional full text, non-journal content includes market research reports, industry reports, country reports, company profiles and SWOT analyses.
  • GreenFILE** offers well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. The database provides indexing and abstracts for more than 384,000 records, as well as Open Access full text for more than 4,700 records.
  • Regional Business News ** provides comprehensive full text coverage for regional business publications. Regional Business News incorporates coverage of 75 business journals, newspapers and newswires from all metropolitan and rural areas within the United States. This database is updated on a daily basis.

Medical, Psychology, Sociology

  • Biomedical Reference Collection ** is designed for doctors, research scientists, students, clinical specialists and managers, this database provides nearly 900 full text journals, including nearly 850 peer-reviewed publications, covering virtually all areas of medical study.
  • Child Development & Adolescent Studies produced by NISC, is today's source for references to the current and historical literature related to growth and development of children through the age of 21. Book reviews and abstracts from hundreds of journals and a bibliography of thousands of technical reports, books, book chapters, theses and dissertations covering biomedical and social sciences worldwide are indexed. More than 201,860 records are included with over 10,000 new records added each year.
  • Medline ** provides authoritative medical information on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more. Created by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINE allows users to search abstracts from over 4,800 current biomedical journals.
  • PsycARTICLES from the American Psychological Association (APA), is a definitive source of full-text, peer-reviewed scholarly and scientific articles in psychology. The database contains more than 140,000 articles from over 60 journals published by the APA, and its imprint the Educational Publishing Foundation (EPF), and from allied organizations including the Canadian Psychology Association and Hogrefe Publishing Group.   • PsycBOOKS from the American Psychological Association (APA), is a database of more than 25,000 chapters in PDF from over 1,600 books published by APA and other distinguished publishers. It also includes over 900 classic books of landmark historical impact in psychology dating from the 1600s, and the exclusive electronic release of more than 1,500 authored entries from APA/Oxford University Press Encyclopedia of Psychology.   • Psychology & Behavioral Sciences Collection ** is a comprehensive database covering information concerning topics in emotional and behavioural characteristics, psychiatry & psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational & experimental methods
  • PsychInfo** is an index of literature in psychology and related disciplines, produced by the American Psychological Association.
  • Pubmed Medline is an index of biomedical literature produced by the U.S. National Library of Medicine from 1966.
  • SocIndex with Fulltext ** is the world's most comprehensive and highest quality sociology research database. It contains full text for 235 "core" coverage journals and 72 "priority" coverage journals. This database also includes full text for many books and conference papers.
