Australian Domestic and Family Violence Clearinghouse
In its role of collecting and disseminating information on domestic and family violence in Australia the Clearinghouse has developed two searchable online databases.
Research and resources database
The aim of the research and resources database is to provide a central directory of all material on domestic and family violence produced in Australia, whether formal research findings, journal articles, pamphlets, unpublished reports, training kits or videos from 2000 onwards. In order to assist its clients, it also includes information on key international material and selected material published prior to 2000.
Good Practice Database
The aim of the good practice database is to identify examples of good practice in domestic and family violence service provision. Entries are described by target group, intervention mode, and perspective.
AustROM **
AUSTROM is a collection of indexes to journal articles, newspapers, reports, books and conference papers on Australian subjects. AUSTROM contains the following databases:
AEI - Australian Education Index 1978+
Covers education and the related fields of: curriculum, educational research, information science, librarianship, management, policy administration, teaching and training.
AFPD - Australian Federal Police Digest 1991+
Covers policing, criminology, law enforcement and the related areas of law, occupational health and safety, management and social sciences.
AGIS - Attorney General's Information Service 1975+
Covers all aspects of law including administrative law, constitutional law, copyright law, companies and securities, banking, criminal law, environmental law, family law, human rights, legal aid, trade practices and international law.
ALISA - Australian Library & Information Science Abstracts 1982+
Covers library and information science. Indexes Australian literature on library and inforamtion services, information technology including CDROM's, networking, electronic publishing and telecommunications.
APAIS - Australian Public Affairs Information Service 1978+
Covers the social sciences and humanities. Australian current affairs, economics, law, literature and politics. Produced by the National Library of Australia.
ARCH - Australian Architecture Database 1980+
Coverage includes architects, architecture, building, interior design and landscape architecture.
ATI - Australian Tourism Index 1982+
Covers tourism and travel, leisure, recreation and sport until 1988 and from 1989 tourism and travel only.
AUSPORT - Australian Sport Database 1989+
Covers all aspects of Australian sport including children, coaching, administration, the disabled, facilities, history, medicine, nutrition, psychology, physiology, women and the Olympic Games.
CINCH - Australian Criminology Database 1968+
Covers all aspects of crime and criminal justice including; crime prevention, criminal law, criminology, juvenile justice, law enforcement, police and victims of crime.
CONSUMER - Consumer Science Index 1988+
Covers consumer economics and the related fields of children, clothing, consumer education, craft, family, fashion, food, health, home economics teaching, housing, marriage, textiles and nutrition.
DELTAA - Database on English Language Teaching for Adults in Australasia 1985+
Covers learning English as a second language and teaching in Australia. Includes adult education, immigrant education, English programs, applied linguistics, cross cultural communication, literacy, language instruction and learning.
FAMILY - Australian Family and Society Abstracts 1980+
Covers Australian families:- research, policy and practice. Child development, adolescents, youth, the aged, marriage, divorce, foster care, adoption, child abuse, domestic violence, child care, counselling, employment, health and housing.
MAIS - Multicultural Australia and Immigration Studies 1988+
Indexes all aspects of Australian immigration and multicultural issues. Subject coverage includes : immigration, emigration, multiculturalism, ethnicity, racism, multicultural education, migrant health, welfare and social services, access and equity, settlement services, refugees, and population
Biomedical Reference Collection™: Comprehensive Edition**
The Biomedical Reference Collection™: Comprehensive Edition provides doctors, research scientists, students and clinical specialists with access to full text journals covering such disciplines as clinical medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, pre-clinical sciences and the health care system. This database contains full text for nearly 900 journals indexed in MEDLINE® including Journal of Family Practice, Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, CMAJ, etc.
The Biomedical Reference Collection can be searched independently, but also allows users to conveniently link to full text from citations within MEDLINE. When these citations are viewed via EBSCOhost®, there is the ability to link to full text for articles contained within the Biomedical Reference Collection. Most of the journals covered are available in cover-to-cover PDF. EBSCO is in the process of expanding the cover-to-cover PDF backfiles for many journals. Some titles have substantial PDF backfiles, including Annals of Internal Medicine back to 1960.

Cochrane Library
The Cochrane Library (Clib) is now the premier resource for information on the effectiveness of healthcare interventions. It is a collection of information put together by the Cochrane Collaboration, the NHS Centre for Reviews and Dissemination and others. It includes four databases:
Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR)
A full text of completed reviews carried out by the Cochrane Collaboration, plus protocols for reviews currently in preparation.
Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness (DARE)
Contains abstracts of quality assessed systematic reviews published elsewhere in the medical literature. Abstract comments on the quality of the methods used in the review and gives the reference to the review.
Cochrane Controlled Trials Register (CCTR/CENTRAL)
References to randomised controlled trials (RCTs) identified through hand searching of journals and databases. Also the Medical Editors Trials Amnesty, notifications of un-published trials, with contact details. May be over-inclusive and contain references to trials that prove to be non randomised.
Cochrane Review Methodology Database (CRMD)
References to articles, etc. dealing with the science/methods of systematic reviews, RCTs, etc.
ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center)
The Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) is a national information system designed to provide ready access to an extensive body of education-related literature. Established in 1966, ERIC is supported by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Educational Research and Improvement and is administered by the National Library of Education (NLE).
At the heart of ERIC is the largest education database in the world-containing more than 1 million records of journal articles, research reports, curriculum and teaching guides, conference papers, and books.

Legal Collection **

National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS) Abstracts Database
The National Criminal Justice Reference Service Abstracts Database contains summaries of more than 180,000 criminal justice publications. It also contains the NCJRS collection of 7,000+ full-text publications.

Restorative Justice Database
Created and maintained by the Centre of Criminology Library, this database includes citations to academic and practitioner literature from 1970 to the present. It is updated and maintained on a regular basis and presently includes more than 1,400 records.
SocINDEX™ with Full Text**
This is the world's most comprehensive and highest quality sociology research database. The index features more than 1,300,000 records with subject headings from a 15,000 term sociology-specific thesaurus designed by expert lexicographers. This product also contains informative abstracts for more than 620 "core" coverage journals dating back to 1895.
